Michael "Mike" Williams

Mike Williams extensive law enforcement career has spanned over 35 years.  Mike is the Former Chief Investigator for the Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office.  Mike’s duties as Chief Investigator were to oversee the day-to-day operations of the entire Criminal Investigations Division.

As Chief Investigator, Mike was responsible to ensure the Criminal Investigations Division (Investigators) assist all Assistant Solicitor General’s (ASG’S) in case and Trial preparation(s).  This included collecting evidence; conducting follow-up investigations/leads; interviewing victims and witnesses; locating victim and witnesses; subpoena of service and courtroom testimony.

 

Prior to accepting the Chief Investigator Appointment for the Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office, Mike served as a Supervising Investigator for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, which prosecutes all Felony Cases.  Mike was assigned to the Trial Division where he supervised 10 Criminal Investigators.  As Supervising Investigator Mike’s duties was to ensure the Criminal Investigators assist the Assistant District Attorney’s (ADA’S) for Case and Trial preparations.  This included the case intake process (Assigning of cases); collecting evidence; interviewing victims and witnesses; locating victims and witnesses; securing and executing search warrants; subpoena of service; presenting cases before the Grand Jury for Indictment; assisting in organizing cases for trial; making recommendations for trial/pleas and testifying before Jury Trials in the Superior Court of DeKalb County.  Mike’s assignments for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office included the Trial Division; Homicide Division; Gang Unit and the Public Integrity Unit (Public Corruption).

Mike began his Law Enforcement career and later retired from the Atlanta Police Department after 21 years of service.  Mike patrolled the streets of the westside of the City of Atlanta.  Mike was promoted to the rank of Investigator where he worked in the Special Investigations Section/Organized Crime Unit.  Mike was later assigned to the Narcotics Unit as an undercover Investigator.  Because of hard work and dedication, Mike was transferred to the Federal Task Force known as the Atlanta H.I.D.T.A (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area).  The Federal Task Force (H.I.D.T.A) consisted of multiple Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, and Mike was assigned as the Back-Up Supervisor for the Atlanta HIDTA Group 3.  Additionally, Mike was assigned as a Lead Case Agent for the Atlanta HIDTA Group 3, which was responsible for dismantling Major Drug Organizations supplying and distributing drugs to the Atlanta area.  The Drug Organizations dismantled were all prosecuted Federally by the United States District Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.  Atlanta HIDTA Group 3, led by Mike was awarded the prestigious award in 2002 of Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (O.C.D.E.T.F) Case of the Year.  Mike later accepted the assignment with the Department of Homeland Security-Immigrations Customs Enforcement (I.C.E) at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, before retiring from the Atlanta Police Department in 2009.

Mike is a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mike earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree (B.S) in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Central Missouri in 1983.
